At the end of one lesson, I understood where to surf for my level, the sight lines to the beach for the breaks, and I felt confident enough to rent the same equipment and get out there on the water for the next 3 days. Called into 369 as a beginner surfer looking to get out of the whitewater and onto some real waves. The crew got me a same-day private lesson (unreal!) with Ricky,... read more a super-experienced surfer. They fitted me for a wetsuit and foam board, made sure I had the basics down, and then took me to a quiet local spot for about two hours of surfing. In that time I went from catching whitewater to dropping into 2–3 foot waves on my own. After the lesson they even let me use the gear for an extra hour and gave me a discount on a longboard I’d been eyeing in the shop. They also pointed me to some local breaks to try later, which turned out amazing. These guys are laid-back pros who tailor the experience to you — way better than the other shops and resorts that overcharge for a lesser experience.
